That's right, the transplant is happening as I type this. Sort of "live blogging" it, you can say...
Other than a bit more pomp & circumstance (the attending herself had to be here and verify some forms, everybody ooohed and aaahhed a bit...) it really is just like getting a blood transfusion.
Here is what the stem cells look like, for the curious among you:

Oh, and for those of you who were wondering about the "creamed corn" smell that I had mentioned, apparently I was mistaken--that is only present because of a preservative that is used in freezing autologous cells, so not in this case.
This bag here is straight out of Normy's veins yesterday. Has not even been processed or anything! (Analyzed, yes. Processed, no...)
Yeah! Yesterday, the 27th, was my sons first birthday. And though we did a small celebration marking his first year on this rock I could not help but think of you and the timing of it all. Truly Sam with Normy's help you are being born again. Not in a bible thumping pick up truck Yeeee Har! kind of way. But still starting new. Without blood we are non functional systems. Thankfully this may be a second start and truly awesome way to start the rest of your life. I know that nothing is certain but my hope is that years from now I can look back at these days in March not as the start of one life, but two.
